Youth Are Youth – Part 1
Youth.
They’re no longer just tomorrow’s generation—they’re today’s generation. Vibrant, rising in intellect, talent, and ambition, they are the driving force and foundation for the sustainability of any organization, community, and nation. Isn’t it time they had a real say in the direction we’re headed? Shouldn’t they have the opportunity to lead, to shape their futures, and to enjoy the fruits of their contributions?
But what do youth truly want? Is it money, fame, freedom, entertainment, recognition, peace of mind—or something deeper? Youth can be a whirlwind of unpredictability, making their desires seem elusive. At their core, though, youth yearn for the freedom to be themselves—to break free from the molds and expectations that society often places on them. It’s the 21st century, after all, and the Gen Z phenomenon has taught us that individuality matters more than ever.
And yet, understanding the youth experience isn’t simple. One moment they’re hailed as heroes, the next, they’re cast as villains. It often feels like the world is quick to celebrate their successes but even quicker to criticize their missteps. Is it fair? Are these roles they willingly choose, or are they simply byproducts of societal pressures and expectations? Do youth truly have the freedom to define their identities, or are they constantly being shaped and reshaped by others?
The truth is, there’s no manual for understanding youth—no “How-To Guide for 21st Century Youth” exists to decode their thoughts, dreams, and struggles. But here’s something that might surprise you: young people are acutely aware of how the world perceives and treats them. They know when they’re being underestimated, misunderstood, or unfairly labeled. They see when their potential is dismissed and their voices are stifled.
And still, they persevere.
Youth are complex, dynamic, and resilient. They are dreamers and doers, challengers and changemakers. They are navigating a world that often doesn’t seem ready for the boldness and brilliance they bring. But that’s what makes them unstoppable.
Because youth are youth—uniquely themselves.
